Simon Walter is a lawyer with the Kamloops Collaborative Family Law Association and was called to the Bar in May 2017. He has called Kamloops home for the last 26 years. He graduated high school at South Kamloops Secondary School in 2007, obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Victoria in 2012, and completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law in 2016.

Simon practices primarily in the area of Family Law, and believes almost all family matters can be more effectively resolved through a process which allows parents to hear each other’s concerns in a non-adversarial environment, away from courtrooms. In his role as a collaborative professional, Simon works constructively in family disputes by proposing creative solutions to traditional problems presented by parenting schedules and regular child support payments. While he handles contested family matters in his practice, he has found most clients prefer the satisfaction of a long-term solution that is reached through working together, as opposed to the “take it or we will go to court” style of lawyering.

When he is not in the office, Simon is an active member in the Kamloops community. He sings in local choirs and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Kamloops Symphony. He is a member of the Kamloops Soccer Referees Association and can be found officiating local youth and adult soccer leagues. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Kamloops Bar Association, coordinating professional development programming for other lawyers.

Simon would be thrilled to assist you in your own collaborative process or for any other legal matter within his skillset.
