Membership Requirements and Category:

Current members must have completed all qualifications below by September 2017 to renew membership. New/training members must complete all qualifications required for their professional designation within one year of membership.

Membership Training & Requirements:

All Members

  • Approved Collaborative Family Law training;
  • Continuing Professional Education;
  • Professional liability insurance;
  • Good community and professional reputation; and
  • Participation in the following activities:
  • Attendance at KCFLA meetings, lunch meetings, study groups, workshops or retreats
  • Ongoing engagement in collaborative family law practice
  • Active Membership in one of the KCFLA Committees

Divorce/Separation Coaches and Child Specialists

Member in good standing of the requisite mental health registration body that meets one of the designations set out below:

R. Psych (Registered Psychologist in BC) RCC (Registered Clinical Counselor in BC)
CCC (Canadian Clinical Counselor)
CCPA (Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapists Assoc. )
MSW/RSW (Master of Social Work/Registered SW BC)
LMFT/AAMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist/American Marriage and Family Therapist) LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) (______________________________)

Child Specialist (in addition to the above)

Experience in child development, child therapy, and clinical experience with a special focus on children and an in-depth understanding of children’s unique issues in divorce.

Financial Specialists (in addition to the above)

Member in good standing with a registration body that meets one of the designations set out below. Please check which of the following is applicable:

 CPA (includes CAs, CGAs and CMAs)
 CBV (Chartered Business Valuator)
 CFP ( Certified Financial Planner)

Lawyers (in addition to the above)

Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia (LSBC).

 Family Mediator accredited by the LSBC
 Family Arbitrator accredited by the LSBC
 Parenting Coordinator accredited by the LSBC
